The Unattainable

Have you ever felt like you were working towards something that was unachievable? No matter how hard you try you feel like it can never happen. What do you do? Do you quit? Or keep trying? No judgement. You can be honest. Does it even make sense to try if you know you can never achieve it?

As Christians were supposed to represent the image of Christ. The image of God’s perfect and only son. The image of a sinless life, of a loving heart, a giving character. Pure perfection. However, this is something we can never be because we were born sinful. We came here this way so how in the world are we supposed to embody the image of this perfect being. And why should we even bother trying. It’s unattainable right?

We will always fall short. We will always sin in some way no matter how much we read our bible, attend church, or sing a worship song. So what is it all for?

Well if you’re not working towards becoming something, you’re liable to become anything.

I can remember working my butt off in ultrasound school when I left the fashion industry. The long nights of studying and preparing for the state exam only to not be able to take the state exam at all (it’s a long story). I wasted two years and a lot of money on an education and a career I would never have the opportunity to work in. I worked hard and gave it my all, but in the end it never happened.

The lesson? Sometimes it’s not about the end result but who you become along the way.

In the process of me trying to become something I was never meant to be I found God, and became who he destined me to be. I was starting my life over, broke, and in debt. I didn’t know where to turn so I turned to God, and gave him full control. I started to learn who he was, and how immeasurable his love was for me. This was where our relationship formed. It formed on a path to becoming something I was never meant to be.

As much as we will never fully be as perfect as Christ the journey you take to even try to get there is well worth the trip. You will be transformed along the way. Each day you wake up you have something to look forward to. A new you to become. Look at each day as an opportunity to see what God will do in you. It gives you a purpose day after day. You may not reach perfection but little by little you become a better person. If you’re on a path that doesn’t quite make sense, and seems unattainable just stay the course you never know what God will show you, and where he will take you. We were never meant to be perfect, we were just meant to emulate the perfect being.

  1. Strong and encouraging this is such a reflection of most and also the truth we should never give up keeping a closer focus with god he only can show us in his eyes our perfection even if to some it’s failure.
