Removing Fear From Your Calling

Fear is a heavy weight to carry. It’s not a useful weight that can strengthen your muscles, or get your body in check. Fear is a dead and useless weight that keeps you bound, holds you back, and hinders your growth.

We don’t realize how heavy it is to walk around with fear, because we’ve gotten so used to carrying the unnecessary load. It almost feels safe to do so. We don’t have to face reality as long as we stay in fear.

I remember seeing a video clip of an interview of Nina Simone, and she was asked “What is freedom to you?” She replied, “No fear”.

How free could you be if you had no fear? What kind of life could you live if you had no fear? How much lighter would you feel if fear didn’t hold you down?

So how do you remove fear from your calling?

You stop thinking that you can do what God has called you to do in your own strength.

We become fearful when we are called, because God’s calling is never small. God’s calling is never something we could ever imagine for ourselves. It is usually way bigger than us, and completely outside of our means.

Therefore, when we try to figure things out on our own it scares us, and we tend to run from it. It is outside of our understanding and comprehension. How am I going to achieve this? How am I going to reach these people? How am I going to make a way?

All of the questions stricken us fearing there is no way.

Removing the fear from our calling requires us to trust the one who called us. Trust that he will guide, and provide. If we move ourselves out the way we move fear out of the way. He will never call us to something so profound without providing in a profound way.

If we remember that he will bring us through everything he has called us to, fear flees.

If we remember that greater is he that is in us, than he that is in this world we can break free.

The other reason why we are so fearful of God’s calling on our life is because we don’t see in us what He sees in us. God knows who he created us to be from creation; therefore he knows what we’re TRULY capable of. What he calls us to seems out of our reach, and unrealistic to us because we’re limited, but God is limitless.

Our calling is God’s vision for our life so we need God’s plan, and his guidance to get us there. We can’t do it alone or in our own strength. We can’t do HIS work OUR way. If we change our perspective of who’s really in charge of the call we can slowly eliminate the fear of doing it.

Free yourself from the dead weight of fear, and leave each step in God’s hands.
