Cast Out All Fear

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out all fear because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” 1John 4:18 NKJV

God is love. God’s love is perfect love. The word perfect means “brought to its end, finished; wanting nothing necessary to completeness.”

God’s love needs nothing added to it, nor nothing is taken away from it. It is complete.

Since God has given us His spirit, His perfect love also lives inside us. “By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.” (1John 4:13)

We, too, are love. We are perfect love because God’s spirit is within us. If we truly live in God, and God truly lives in us, there should be no room for fear to dwell. As the scripture says, “there is no fear in love.”

So, if you consistently live in fear, ask yourself if you fully live in God, and does God fully live in me?

Are you filling yourself up with His presence, or with fear?

“Fear involves torment” the word fear means “dread and terror,” and the word torment means “correction, punishment, penalty.”

You are tormenting and punishing yourself by living in dread and terror. You have not allowed God’s perfect and complete love to dwell in you to “cast out all fear.”

I encourage you to spend more time with God. Spend time worshipping Him for all He has done. Spend time reading His word. Spend time in praise and thanksgiving. The more time you spend with Him, the less space fear has to occupy.

Yours Truly, Moe

  1. Beautiful message, about God’s unconditional love. God love is, complete, wanting us to only love him in return.
